Newborn and Baby Sessions
Newborn pictures are best when done within the first 10 days of life. Why? Your babies appearance will change so fast. Those first 10 days are when your baby looks like a fresh newborn and are more easily put to sleep and posed in those “womb” like positions. Around 10 days old babies become more alert and lose their newborn look. Also after 10 days baby acne can set in.
Your newborn won’t look like a newborn for long, so capture them during this precious stage in photos you will cherish forever. Please wear a long sleeve black shirt to the session.
Babies look best in their bare skin or a diaper with cover. Hats, blankets with texture and other accessories are great. Little girls look adorable with flowers and headbands. Most of the hats, blankets and other newborn accessories on my blog are available to use for your newborn session.
How to prepare for your session:
* Try to keep baby awake for a few hours before your session.
* Feed baby right before coming to your session. You are welcome to come early and feed your baby here. Nothing puts baby to sleep faster than a full tummy.
* If you want those “babe in arm” photos with just hands and baby showing against black, please wear a long sleeve black shirt to the session (but don’t forget a change of clothes!)
* Just expect to get peed and pooped on. Its gonna happen, but its worth it!
* Don’t worry about clothes or outfits for your newborn. Most clothes drown a newborn. Babies look best in their bare skin or a diaper cover. Hats, blankets with texture and other accessories are great. Little girls look adorable with flowers and headbands. I have quite a few hats and other accessories in my studio as well.
* Expect your session to last at least the two hours. Feel free to bring a snack or whatever else you need to feel comfortable.
